NETFLIX'S WEDNESDAY ANNOUNCES MAJOR CAST SHAKEUP AHEAD OF SEASON TWO

Netflix's Wednesday is undergoing a major casting overhaul ahead of season two.

The Addams Family spin-off series is set to welcome Billie Piper and Joanna Lumley, as three of its original stars exit.

Wednesday took Netflix by storm when its first season dropped in November 2022. The black comedy spent 20 weeks on the Global Top 10 and garnered more than 250 million views.

It wasn't a huge surprise when Netflix renewed Wednesday for a second season just a few months later, with production now underway in Ireland.

Though Jenna Ortega will be returning to her role as the titular goth teen, fans will have to say goodbye to a few favorite and welcome some new faces.

Among the newcomers is Billie Piper, known for her roles in Scoop, Doctor Who, and I Hate Suzie. She will portray a character named Capri.

Another person joining the cast is Absolutely Fabulous actress, model, and activist Joanna Lumley, who will play the Addams family's grandmother

Lumley will work alongside Saturday Night Live's Fred Armisen, who is reprising his guest role as Uncle Fester. Other actors joining the series include Boardwalk Empire's Steve Buscemi, Return To Silent Hill's Evie Templeton, Tiny Beautiful Things' Owen Painter, and Law and Order Organized Crime's Noah Taylor.

A newly released teaser updating fans on the cast revealed that Buscemi will be playing the character Barry Dort.

Back To The Future's Christopher Lloyd, who also portrayed Uncle Fester in The Addams Family film franchise, will make a guest appearance in season two in an undisclosed role.

This marks the second movie cast member to appear in Wednesday after original leading lady Christina Ricci made an appearance in the first series.

Other announced guest stars include Thandiwe Newton as Dr Fairburn, Frances O'Connor from The Missing, Heather Matarazzo of The Princess Diaries, and Haley Joel Osment from The Kominsky Method.

While there are several exciting new additions to the Wednesday cast, not all original series members will return for the second season.

It has been confirmed that Percy Hynes White, Jamie McShane, and Naomi J Ogawa will not be returning as series regulars.

McShane, who played Sheriff Donovan Galpin, will return as a guest star, presumably to wrap up his storyline.

White portrayed psychic Nevermore student Xavier Thorpe, one of Wednesday's two romantic interests.

Ogawa, meanwhile, played vampire student Yoko Tanaka, who primarily had a background role in the first season.

However, it's good news for some of Wednesday's other original stars who have been promoted to series regulars.

Viewers can anticipate more appearances from Wednesday's parents Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones) and Gomez Addams (Luis Guzman), Pugsley Addams' Isaac Ordonez, and Sheriff Deputy Ritchie Santiago, portrayed by Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo.
