NASIM PEDRAD'S CHAD CANCELLED AT ROKU

Chad is out of second chances.

Nasim Pedrad's coming-of-age sitcom, which repeatedly bounced back from possible cancellation over the course of two seasons, is officially done. According to our sister site Deadline, the show's most recent home, Roku Channel, has opted not to proceed with a third season.

"Eight years, three networks, one great show that I'm deeply proud of. Excited for what comes next," Pedrad said in a statement to the publication.

Roku did not immediately respond to TVLine's request for comment.

Saturday Night Live alum Pedrad co-created and starred in Chad, where she transformed into 14-year-old Persian-American boy Chad Amani as he navigated high school and his own cultural identity.

The show's two-season lifespan was an eventful one, though: Chad made it to the pilot stage at Fox in 2016, but was ultimately passed over. In 2019, TBS reshot the pilot and gave Pedrad the official green light. A teaser trailer was first released that spring, but Season 1 didn't see the light of day for another two years, finally premiering April 6, 2021.

Chad was renewed for Season 2 that May, but its initial return date of April 11, 2022, was ultimately delayed until July of that same year. Then, just hours before the show's first episode back, TBS announced that it had, in fact, cancelled Chad, and had no plans to air the already-completed Season 2. Roku swooped in and acquired both seasons of Chad three months later, and Season 2 dropped all at once in January of this year.

In addition to Pedrad, Season 2 starred Alexa Loo, Jake Ryan, Saba Homayoon, Paul Chahidi, Ella Mika, Thomas Barbusca and Sara Rowe.
