BANDA QUEEN SELLS ALL RIGHTS TO THEIR SONGS FOR OVER $1 BILLION

Sony Music has purchased the rights to all songs by the band Queen for over $1 billion, including merchandising opportunities.

After years of offers, Sony Music has purchased the rights to all songs by the band Queen for over $1 billion.

The purchase includes the studio albums, which feature hit songs: “Bohemian Rhapsody”, “I Want To Break Free”, “Another One Bites The Dust”, and “Don’t Stop Me Now”.

The rights to live performances were not sold and remain with the band’s founding members Brian May, 76, and Roger Taylor, 74, who tour with singer Adam Lambert.

The band Queen was formed in 1970. Vocalist Freddie Mercury died at the age of 45 from AIDS in 1991. Bassist John Deacon, 72, retired from the music industry in 1997.

Deacon, Taylor, and Brian are equal shareholders in Queen Productions Ltd, which had revenues of over $50 million.
