GRAMMY WINNER MANDISA DEAD AT 47

Mandisa, the Grammy-winning gospel singer and American Idol alum, was found dead in her home in Nashville.

According to a statement from her social media account, the cause of death is still unknown.

"We can confirm that yesterday Mandisa was found in her home deceased. At this time we do not know the cause of death or any further details,” an Instagram post from the singer's verified Instagram account said.

Mandisa was originally from Citrus Heights, Calif. and studied vocal jazz at American River College in Sacramento before moving to a school in Nashville, according to CNN.

"Even among her fellow competitors, who included Katherine McPhee, Kellie Pickler, Chris Daughtry and eventual season winner Taylor Hicks, Mandisa stood out for her powerful voice and shining spirit," the news network reported.

Mandisa was nominated for several Grammys, eventually winning best contemporary Christian album in 2014 for "Overcomer."

“We ask for your prayers for her family and close knit circle of friends during this incredibly difficult time," the Instragram post read. "Mandisa was a voice of encouragement and truth to people facing life’s challenges all around the world.”

Mandisa was 47.
